We all take pics on our hols and the best part is showing your friends the pics..it’s kind of a post tour ritual we all go through. Meet the ‘Social Netsetter’ – 18-30yr old travellers whose primary motivation for going on holidays is to make their friends jealous by constantly updating exotic pics of their travels. According to a recent lastminute.com study, 38% of their 1,000 sample describe themselves as ‘social netsetters’. It’s all about the brag factor. These netsetters spend more time in web cafes in thailand updating their facebook profiles and twittering on how good their life is. We all know TRAVEL is one of the key pillars of youth culture, always has been, always will be. Now more than ever through social networking, it’s all about expressing yourself and ‘one upping’ your friends.. The 15 seconds of fame phenomenon is not a new one, but it’s certainly prevalent with these consumers who care more about what their friends think of them than the holiday itself.
